Our Story
From humble beginnings to one of WA’s most trusted names in fresh produce.

What started in 1987 as a small trading floor behind the old Perth Metropolitan Markets has grown into one of Australia’s most trusted names in fresh produce.
Founded by Lance Fitzgerald from Geraldton and John Marinovich, Direct Produce Distributors (DPD) began with just a few pallets of tomatoes and rockmelons — and a clear vision: to deliver quality produce backed by honesty, integrity, and hard work.
By 1989, DPD had moved to the newly established Canning Vale Markets, where our reputation for reliability and quality quickly took root. From there, we’ve continued to expand our footprint and our partnerships, working with top growers across Western Australia and interstate and internationally.
Today, with over 35 years of industry experience, DPD proudly supplies major supermarkets, independent retailers, food processors, and exporters across the country. Our long-standing relationships with Australia’s leading growers give us a distinct edge — ensuring our customers have access to premium produce, consistent supply, and genuine service.
As an ethically audited company, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of transparency and quality. Our focus is simple: to provide a seamless, reliable, and rewarding experience — from the grower’s field to your customer’s table.
